What does it mean to sync a channel?

When you have Scaura app installed on your desktop or mobile devices, syncing allows you to make your files available offline and also keep your channels up-to-date with the latest changes made by your admin.

How can I sync my channels?

Syncing a channel is recommended if you want to make sure you have your content available even if you don't have internet connection. You don't have to sync anything if you don't want to have your content offline.

You can make your files available for offline use from the channel management page or in a channel.

Sync channels from the channel management page

You can open a channel and use the app normally while syncing.

Sync a channel when in the channel

When you're already inside a channel, you can sync the channel from the menu panel.

  1. Open the menu panel by clicking on the hamburg icon on the top left of a page
  2. Click on the Sync button on the top right (see below the screenshot)
  3. Click on the Sync button in the Sync window to start syncing the channel

Do you see any errors when your sync finishes? Check our Troubleshoot syncing issues.

Keeping your channel up-to-date

It is important to keep your channel up-to-date for offline use.

If there’s a change, you will see a notification on the menu. And you can sync the channel again from the menu panel. Please follow the steps mentioned in 'Sync a channel when in the channel'.

How to make only some files available for offline use?

If you don't want to make all your channel available for offline use, you can also make individual files available offline. At Scaura, we call this a selective sync

If a file has not been synced yet, a sync icon shows on the bottom right on the file thumbnail.
